Year 5 Brass Programme

Last Friday, children in Year 5 became audience members in their very own X Factor, as 5H performed to their contemporaries on our P-Bones and P-Trumpets.
This initiative is a part of the Year 5 Brass Programme, with each class taking turns throughout the year to learn the basics of trumpet and trombone playing in Friday lunchtime sessions.
Judged by our expert panel (Mrs Toornent – our Music and Performing Arts Administrator, and Year 8 tenor horn player, Lorelei B), 5H were put through their paces as their knowledge was tested on the origins of brass instruments, and proper playing technique.
5H then performed a wonderfully energetic piece to their captive audience, led by their teacher, Mr Jones (Visiting Teacher of Brass), and they were treated to a round of enthusiastic applause at the end.
Our expert panel agreed that all had passed with flying colours, and the class was awarded certificates for their efforts. These will be handed out in the Celebration Assembly on Friday.
Well done all on a super term of brass playing!
