Year 1 Count Out Their Coins

Re-telling stories, innovations, money and light were the highlights of our week in Year 1.
Year 1s used their time openers to retell the story of “The Owl who was Afraid of the Dark”, remembering to include all the characters Plop met on his journey to finding out about the dark. They also innovated a new character for the baby owl to meet including mermaids, tigers, leopards, fairies, and many more exciting characters to help Plop. The children loved learning about money in
maths and spent happy hours ordering, counting and adding amounts. They even had to buy their snack with the correct amount of money! No one went hungry luckily. We continued to explore the concept of light, finding out about the first light bulbs and learning how to make light bulbs work! Lots of fun Christmas crafts on Friday made us excited for Christmas and all the children made us proud as they took part in the Rudolph Run!
