Nursery Make Chocolate Owl Nests

This week we have followed the children's interest in numbers, focusing on a number each day.
We began the week meeting 'Simon Sock' The children listened to the story that told us about Simon Sock who was looking for a match, so he could become a pair. The children were challenged to sort out a large pile of muddled socks, putting them into pairs and pegging them onto the washing line. At the end, they hunted around the classroom to find the missing stripey sock. At last, Simon found his match. The children talked about the patterns they observed on the socks and practiced finding two objects.
Later in the week, we read the story of 'Owl Babies' The children thought about how each owl would be feeling and what makes them feel happy or sad, before painting some wonderful owl babies. We focused on the number three and four whilst reading this story. The children worked together to make chocolate owl nests, counting out three or four eggs to put into their nest.
On Friday, everyone had a fantastic time, celebrating 'Festive Friday'. The children were determined to reach the finish line during their 'Rudolph Run', meeting some visitors from the North Pole along the way. They were then full of excitement, as we went to the main house to meet the most famous visitor of all from the North Pole! Father Christmas and all the teachers agreed that the children deserved a special present after such a super first term at Nursery!
